Making the case for universal free school meals

Here is a thought- what if we looked at free school meals for all as a way to protect the rural economy? Surely we could make a great case for free school dinners as a way of supporting British farmers, providing local employment and reducing our carbon footprint.

We need some good quality research on this. Watch this space!

Love it, but that would rely on local authorities committing to sourcing ingredients from British farmers. Local and sustainable sourcing of school meals is a key goal of SFM, but I know two local authorities that aren't leaping at the challenge. First stage is to get LAs to realise that public food is a sustainability issue.

This would be great as it would help to also keep jobs in the local communites.
